LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

From 2007-2010, we ran a residential Bible School to train church leaders for our village churches. 23 students graduated from the 3-year course. It was great to see the impact made both upon the leaders and their families and churches.

From 2011, we developed our training strategy to not only be available to a limited number of students who could afford studies, but to also take training to various communities. This has provided opportunities for more leaders and whole leadership teams to be trained. It has also provided opportunities to immediately put training into practice in the churches and communities.

Currently, we have

  • two pastors and one Bible translator enrolled at partner Bible Colleges pursuing BA degrees in Bible and Theology.
  • an internship programme starting from June 2014 at Hope Church, Mongu. We have identified two youth leaders as a start and trust that other leaders, who desire to pursue a calling to full-time ministry in the Western Province of Zambia, will follow .
  • a monthly leaders’ training conference (2 to 3 days) held in a different village each time for leaders from a cluster of churches situated nearby to one another. (Note: “nearby” may include several hours of walking between churches which leaders undertake!)
  • 4 to 5-day praise and worship team training in village churches (includes Biblical teaching and songwriting in local languages).
  • an opportunity to play a significant role in provincial leadership training conferences (day or weekend conferences) for all Western Province churches under the Pentecostal Assemblies of God, Zambia (PAOGZ).
  • a curriculum being developed which will guide untrained local church leaders in the weekly teaching of their congregations.

Our training programmes are never short-term. They are long-term since they involve ongoing friendship, commitment and learning together with all our developing leaders. This is a top priority as training leaders is crucial to the success of the work.
